How to Care for Lof Wool Lamps
One of the most common questions we get asked about the Lof wool lamps from New Zealand is: “How do you clean them? Thankfully, they’re surprisingly easy to care for.
Spot Cleaning
For small marks, such as fly spots, simply spot clean the area with a damp cloth. The natural lanolin in the wool helps prevent marks from soaking into the fibres, making Lof wool shades particularly practical for everyday living.
This is also one of the benefits of wool compared with more delicate materials such as traditional rice paper shades.
Removing Dust
For regular dusting, gently vacuum the shade using a soft brush attachment. This will help keep the wool looking fresh while preserving its natural texture.
A Deeper Clean
Every 5–10 years, or whenever it’s needed, the wool shade can be removed from its wooden frame and gently washed in cold water. A bath or shower works well for this.
Allow the shade to dry thoroughly before placing it back onto the wooden frame.
